What is GED?

GED stands for General Educational Development and successful completion of a GED exam results in a certificate of High School Equivalency issued by Ontario's Ministry of Education and Training.

Who is eligible for GED Quinte and to write the GED exam?

Anyone 18 years of age or older who is not currently enrolled in high school and who has not already completed high school.

What subject areas are included in the GED exam?

Writing, Reading, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies

How long is the GED exam, and how will I know if I'm prepared to write it?

The GED testing takes place over 2 days, and lasts 7 hours. The final session of the GED Quinte program is devoted to a half-length official GED practice test. The practice test is a good predictor of scores on the official exam and will indicate any subject areas that require further review prior to the official exam.

I have been out of school for a while, can I still enroll in GED Quinte?

Yes, we welcome everyone who is interested in earning a High School Equivalency Certificate, regardless of the length of time they've been out of school. Candidates must have basic reading proficiency to successfully complete multiple choice exam.
